Bali Day 2, 3 & 4

DAY 2

Day 2 consists of a private tour of Bali. Our first stop was to a shop that makes and sell Batek which is a cloth that is laboriously painted on by the female workers.Yes, there were only female workers because why? I would like to believe it's because women are more meticulous when it comes to handiwork.Total feminist, i know.

The shop had so many different types of designs and colours. They sold dresses, pouches, bags and sarongs. The items weren't exactly cheap and ranged between $20-$35 SGD. I bought a pretty pink and grey sarong to wear on day 3.

Next stop was the Batur Volcano. We were directly opposite the volcano on a hilltop which was filled with a stretch of restaurants, all to provide tourists with a magnificent view of the volcano while enjoying a meal. The air was so fresh and cold, such a luxury since SG's forever hot and humid. The view was................. BREATHTAKING.It literally took my breath away.I've never seen anything so beautiful in my life.It felt so surreal, like i couldn't believe how this volcano could be so beautiful and deadly at the same time.

Next stop was to the Civet cat coffee making farm.Yes, the coffee's made up of the cat's shit.Basically, the Civet cat eats the coffee beans and shits them put.The farmers then collect the shit, clean them, roast them and lastly, ground them. Can you believe that in this certain farm, the farmers have to pay the landlord money to collect the civet cat's shit? Apparently, this coffee's super expensive in the western countries and thus considered a luxury.Fortunately, in Bali it's not as pricey and managed to sample a small cup at $7.(yah still quite steep). My verdict? Taste nothing like poop. It's actually very light, not as heavy as the normal cup that they gave for free.

The last stop was to a public temple.Did you know that there is a temple in almost every home? Usually 3 families will share a temple and the temple's rather huge. The temple would usually be in the front and their actual houses would be at the back.So don't be surprised if you see houses that do somewhat incomplete without a roof.
This public temple actually had some statues that were from the 10th century.Although kind of out of shape, they were still impressive considering how old they are.
Oh and we wore long pants that day specially so that we wouldn't have to wear the sarong over but they still made us wear it, probably to "tag" us as visitors.

DAY 3
It was snorkeling day.I was looking forward to this day because it's the reason why we came to Bali! After breakfast, we took a boat out to another island, supposedly a hot spot for snorkeling and diving. The journey there was about 30mins and i swear I'm so lucky that i did not battle with sea sickness or else the journey would've been excruciating. When we reached, we started putting on our gears while the guy in charge checked the area. This was when the bad news came in.He said the current was too strong so it was too sandy to see anything.Having come all the way to Bali for snorkeling, we wanted to wait awhile and try out for ourselves.True enough, it was too sandy to really see much. The clarity underwater could be compared to the haze in sg, same same except, different state.I did spot a few fishes though but nah, nothing fascinating.
We headed for the island and lazed around for almost 3hrs just laying on the beach chairs available. When the current was weak enough to go back on the boat, we circled around the area to confirm that there was no hope of snorkeling before heading back to the hotel.

My dad actually made this picture his FB profile pic

DAY 4
No pictures because the day was spent on the beach and i didn't want to dirty my camera. BUTTTTT i managed to jet ski on my own!It was extremely fun but i got super tan after.

That's about all to my Bali trip.It was a good getaway despite snorkeling being a disappointment.I enjoyed my time with my family.Especially since my dad travels almost every other week, it was nice to have the family together to spend some quality time.

NEWSFLASHHHHHHH: I'M GOING TO BANGKOK AKA.THE LAND OF SMILES, +66 WITH THE BFF, SHERYL FROM 15-19JULY! I'm so stoked and ready to shop but this time i'm really going to hold back and not splurge on impulsive buys.Wholesale tactic can't get me this time round.I'm definitely going to put on some weight because our itinerary is filled with must eat places in BKK. My moto for the moment is to lose some to gain some. Hahahahaha. I absolutely cannot wait to spend time with the bff!
